Who Influenced Freeze?
The "no huddle", "spread", "Air Raid", and other variations of 1 back-4 receiver, shotgun offense's have a lineage of coaches that taught their assistants. Beginning with BYU, Hal Mumme, Tony Franklin, Mike Leach, Gary Patterson, Dana Holgrenson, Bob Stoops, Art Brilles, June Jones & current Texas Tech coach, most of these coaches were either taught or learned the system from one another. All had great offensive success & less defensive success except Bob Stoops. All tweaked the system as defenses adapted & adjusted, which required them to have a thorough & comprehensive understanding of offensive capabilities as well as defensives schemes. Just wondering who influenced Freeze? I'm bettin Tony Franklin. After basically blackballed from coaching, he held clinics for high school coaches.
