I can recall reading some sports writers claiming soccer would bypass football way back in the 70's and early 80s. And, basically trying tell us, the readers, (America) that we should happily go along with that premise in order to better fit in with the rest of the world.
They were pushing that agenda right along with trying to force the metric system down our throats.
This is why I've always despised soccer. There are sports I don't care for, but that I do respect, such as hockey and Nascar.
But soccer? I'm totally against soccer, just because others have and are always trying to push it over American football.
