There was a stretch where it was discussed that neither us nor MSU had a top 500 draft eligible player, and a comment (I don't remember who made it) was made sarcastically along the lines of "but oh coaching was the issue". While on field coaching may not have been the issue, part of being a coach in all collegiate sports is building the talent of the team and developing it.
I don't understand why across sports people run to the argument supporting coaches by saying, oh he's a good coach but just doesn't have the talent. It is part of the job of as a coach to get the talent. I get that there are certain issues with scholarships when it comes to baseball here but my statement is meant more in a general sense across all sports and not even specifically as it relates to Ole Miss as it is an issue at any coaching job. I mean hell, what makes Saban the coach he is, is his ability to get the best talent. Without that ability he would be a mediocre coach.
