Bowl games vs home sites for cfp

While yesterday and Friday’s home games were pretty cool, and a home playoff game in Oxford would be nuts I still am a fan of the rest of the games being played at bowl sites. I think the tradition of games like the rose and the sugar are a big part in college football history. I think seeing the crowds split at these big time games in nfl stadiums are pretty cool. Also the games being at bowl game sites create a neutral field environment. Thoughts??

Barion Brown

Would love to have him. Sure he’s not cheap but in our offense I’d think his production would be top level SEC. Dude was all over the place in the UK Levis year game.

Seems like he hasn’t blown ppl away production-wise since but UK’s offense is pretty pedestrian.

Honest Question

What is stopping these conferences from colluding together on standardized contract terms with 2-4 year limits and opt out clauses? I could see where it goes back to a HS recruiting model. I could see where you backload contracts for guys in year 3 or 4. I can see where evaluations and development become requirements again. Feels like it would fix this mess. And the transfer portal is if a player met an opt out clause.

So Here's My Question About 2024 OM

This regular season OM went 9-3. Last season, they went 10-2. So according to some this was a bad year because the team lost three games instead of two. (Disappointing due to preseason expectations... absolutely)

So my question is, does anyone seriously think last year's team was overall and objectively better than this year's squad? If they played each other (healthy) would anyone take 2023 OM over 2024?

Shit happens. Sometimes the objectively better team loses the game. Sometimes the better team loses more games in a season. 2023 OM probably overachieved. They caught all or most of the breaks. The 2024 team popped off before the season started, and then destroyed a string of gimmies (IMO the thing that set them down the road to losing to Kentucky) and got ambushed.

But to say that 2024 OM, because it went 9-3, wasn't worthy of a playoff spot is ridiculous. It's a better team than the 2023 team... just not as lucky.

But by any eye test OM was a legit top 10 team this season. Alabama as well.
