BASEBALL: Two likely additions from the portal

I'm hearing these two guys are likely Ole Miss additions soon:

Libbert is coming off TJ surgery but has a very high upside for next season, per a source.

Pacella hit 20 home runs and was All-MVC for the Redbirds.

$441,000 hospital charge for a cardiac ablation. Same price w/out illegal immigrants?

I need someone to convince me this procedure would be this expensive without illegal immigrants AND ObamaCare. One line item was over $70,000 for Medical Supplies!!

To add clarity, I walked into the facility at 7:00 a.m. & was wheeled out @ 3:15 p.m. the same day. Not a single complication. Went almost perfect per my cardiologist.

I wonder exactly HOW MANY other procedures I funded in a little over 8 hours - for our friends south of the border?

I’m sure this “offense” is repeated 100’s to 1,000’s of times per day.

imagine if a republican senator rushed a dem cabinet member like this, especially without any identification. this type of example for their lunatic cult during raging nationwide riots and after the assassination attempts is intentionally reckless. shameful

Ole Miss Football Away Days

It's still early in the summer but never too early to start thinking about football season. Since the game times were released yesterday I figured I'd put together a list of road games with away section locations as well. If you haven't been to a road game, there is nothing better than being a Road Reb. Every single person is locked into the game, and there is something about seeing a stadium empty out like at Williams-Brice or Reynolds Razorback Stadium last season or Davis Wade and Jordan-Hare in 2023.

This year we have just 4 road games, and only 3 total games outside of the state of Mississippi, however there is something for everyone.

Perfect for OM fans in the Midwest or Nashville: Kentucky on September 6 at 3:30
The away sections are 12 and 13, as well as the upper parts of 201-204 and 207-211. I'd suggest buying in sections around our lower level, if you cannot get into the OM section, 9, 10, 11, 14 are all in that area and tickets are in the $130 on SeatGeek for these. I expect ticket prices to settle in the $90s or less by the time the game gets here, so book hotels and/or flights and worry about tickets around game week. Unless it's a matchup like OM-UGA, tickets normally drop as game day approaches. But keep these sections in mind.

WEAR RED

Perfect for ATL area Rebs or those who want to see the biggest game of the year: Georgia on October 18 FLEX time
Sanford Stadium is great, and Athens is an awesome college town, even if their fans were less than cordial in 2023. OM will occupy the 1/3 of 103, the lower 1/2 of 102 and 103. 144 starts the student section in the corner, so look for the top parts of 101-103 as well as any of 104 and 105. We also have much of the upper level 601-611 but avoid sitting up here at all costs.

WEAR POWDER

Perfect for DFW, KC, OKC Rebs and those who need to check off Oklahoma's stadium for their bucket list: Oklahoma on October 25 at 11 am
Ole Miss has never played at Oklahoma, so for those trying to see Ole Miss at every SEC stadium, this is a big one. I expect it will also be the largest OM away crowd (maybe outside of Black Friday). The Ole Miss sections here will be 15 and the lower part of 16, as well as the upper parts of 226-235. These tickets are $200 face through OM/OU or significantly cheaper on the resell pages. I'd suggest sitting anywhere from 11-18 in that corner. The closer you get to the OM sideline, the closer you are to OU students as they are in 22-28. I expect these tickets to go down slightly ahead of gametime, as the 11 am kickoff will really hurt the resell market, but I'd jump in on any ticket below $150 as I figure this game will be on many Ole Miss fan's wishlist.

This is a Wear Navy game, but to stick out from OU fans, like we did last year in Columbia, I'd say WEAR POWDER, see below from USC:

Perfect for those who want to make this a home game and get out of the house on Black Friday: MSU on November 28 at 11 am

Ole Miss will be in section 24 and 25. This is a place we should absolutely swarm. Back in 2023, we had our best crowd there since Eli beat em 31-0 in 2003. We had nearly half of the away side, and this year should be even more. They're going to be terrible and the game is at 11 am on a Friday, meaning someone in Jackson would really want to watch their bulldogs get whipped to leave at 7 am or drive over Thursday. It's also the first day of duck season, so they've got other places to be. I will post the ticket link but tickets will be dirt cheap by the week of the game, so keep the link handy. In 2023, you could sit directly behind the OM bench on row 7 for $60 by Wednesday. I'd suggest ordering through OM of course, or buying in section 18-23.

WEAR NAVY if you are in 24 or 25, however I'd say WEAR RED or even POWDER if you are not, to make sure you stick out from maroon. With the game being at 11, you can get in and get out before the sun goes down. You don't want to be there after dark.

Currently, buying through MSU, you can sit midfield for $126.50.

Here's last week's thread. Good bit in there:

OT: What are some obscure or random points in history that you wish you knew more about?

Or, is there a specific time that is out of the ordinary that you think about a lot? Things like World War II or the Civil War don’t count, because they are such a fascination broadly. I’m talking specific, finite points in time. I think a lot about Alexander the Great’s encounter with elephants in India more than I should. That seems like such a weird, frightening experience to go through if you had not seen them before.

Breakout players this season

If you had to pick one player on each side of the ball that you think is going to have a breakout year, who would it be?

Offense: Kewan Lacy

TBH this as much of me hoping he breaks out as it is me thinking he will. We’ve got to be able to keep defense’s honest and close out games with the run game this year. I think he’s the most capable RB on the team to do that. I know he did nothing at Mizzou but this staff wanted him BADLY outta HS. If he turns out to be a bust then that’s gonna be pretty alarming.

Defense: Jam Brown

I went back and forth between him and all the other younger D-Lineman but he actually looked really good in the meaningful snaps he was in on last season. He’s short for a DT but he’s athletic as hell and I think is where he finally where he needs to be weight and strength wise. I think he’s gonna end up being a TFL machine this season.

Let’s talk Football

So I was listening to Chris Childers on college XM channel this past weekend, and he and another lady were talking how the SEC is no longer the Godzilla of CFB bc the Big10 is King Kong.

Basically said UTx and UGA were the only contenders in the SEC while BIG10 had OSU, Michigan, PSU and Oregon.

Teams like LSU, OM, ATM and BAMA weren’t even mentioned.

IMO, all of the listed SEC schools could beat those BIG10 schools.
LSU has the talent to make a serious run at the CFP, hard to believe BAMA isnt going to be a contender and OM and ATM have a outside chance to make some noise…
