1) Beef in the trenches: One thing we lacked last year were space eaters in the middle of the D, but the additions of DJ and Speaks gives us 2 legitimate 300lb+ gap fillers for short yardage situations to compliment RN. Gross was forced into a lot of these situations last year and unless he just got an all out jump on his guy it was a disadvantage. Big Herb getting into game shape is also a plus. This depth will allow us to also give RN some much needed rest, instead of leaving him in gassed because a winded RN getting pushed around is still better then the next option.

2) More Athletic at LB: With CJ moving to the middle, this gives us a longer and more athletic MLB than we had with DT. If it can click with Russell and Gates, we then have more length/size/speed then we've had in the Freeze tenure. Add in a healthy Denzel and people who can play hybrid positions like Conner and Chief and the talent at LB will be much better then people think.

3) The secondary gets deeper and longer: We add 2 #1 Juco corners who are both long and fast. Hilton can play anywhere at an SEC level. Elston and Hampton a each bring some special attributes to the table. Ken Webster showed flashes of greatness last year and will like many of the youngster continue to mature and get better. Throw in having hybrid OLB/stingers that can drop into coverage and you have a deep bunch that can blanket the field and suffocate opponents.

I'm excited! Fins up
