LOL - not just wishful thinking, but a lot of outright self-delusion as well. It sounds an awful lot like the disinformation campaign by Ole Miss administration and the complicit local media that has dogged this whole affair from the beginning.

The NCAA wasn't out to get freeze, they were out to get the cheaters. Moreover, the Chancellor in his press conference went out of his way to say that the firing/resignation of Freeze had absolutely nothing to do with the investigation and that the university stood 100% behind Freeze and their earlier statements regarding compliance, therefor his firing should have absolutely no effect on what penalties the Rebs were going to get either way.

Its also a little amusing the statement that 'Freeze proved Ole Miss could win big'... um - what? In five years, Freeze had exactly one 10 win season and had a winning record in the SEC just twice. Neither one of those numbers would have improved if he had been retained this year either.
