A team as talented as Auburn

Is hard to beat, obviously, because of the talent, skill, length and depth. There is a very good chance they win the SEC regular season and the SECT.

The last few weeks, since the Auburn game in Oxford, I have learned quite a few things that give me pause as crowning them as National Champions. I say all that to say this, Bruce doesn't really have control over a few guys on that team. You can watch and pick those players out. Watching him try to coach a few of those guys from the bench to floor and watching reactions and body language (while in the lead), it is easy to see there are some respect issues and a mentality that might not be so healthy. Pearl's wife had to get CBM to even re-enter the game in Oxford in the first half. He's a ticking time bomb. As well as JB. I and a few other friends of mine (one of them is also a member of this board), do know some people in the building to certain degrees. This bragging about how crazy a few guys are is playing over right now because they are winning. It probably won't be an issue during the regular season or even the SECT, because there are guaranteed games left to play on the schedule. This thing is going to show up, when tomorrow isn't guaranteed and they are in a fight with some adversity. Maybe they do overcome it, because of so much talent and being so good they don't face challenges in the 3 weeks of the NCAAT, but I think this tournament is going to be filled with close games and lots of drama for everybody bc of the parity.

I, in no way, anticipate a national championship run for OM. I do think Beard deserves a ton of credit for the guys and their character he has put together on this roster. He not only has coached around a talent discrepancy, but his Culture is also very real. I do wish we had ONE dude who was a little off on this team. I think you need one in a weird way (and hopefully not two or more). I also wish we didn't miss on a few guys in the spring, but he has found a way to squeeze it out of this group with 0 NBA guys on the roster (Dia is possible).

Without dropping names of targets yet, as its way too early, this staff realizes and will target guys who are more athletic and bigger in the next batch of portal additions. They have to hit at a high rate on 3 or 4 of them. If Beard can pull that off and keep implementing guys who buy in, I think he can better manage a group like that than Bruce Pearl can. I don't know if OM will ever have as much talent as AU has this year, but if this group of coaches can get out of a highly athletic group what it got out of this bunch, then late round tournament runs can no doubt be discussed without any hesitation.
