I’ll have you know some interesting facts about MTSU: it has Tennessee’s largest enrollment of undergrads.

It was once under consideration to be renamed Andrew Jackson University but efforts failed.

Original mascot was Nathan Bedford Forrest. Forrest Hall is also named after him. Now the mascot is a Pegasus from Greek Mythology. Wings because of elite aviation program and horse because middle TN is known for its walking horses. We already had the Blue Raider name but couldn’t find something to go with it.

Al Gore regularly gave speeches and lectures at MTSU before and after being elected vice president. His father, Albert Gore, Sr. was an alumni. The Albert Gore Research Center focuses on southern American history and American politics.

It has premier programs in Aerospace, recording industry, and Concrete industry management.

Because MTSU has the flattest campus in the state, it is the #1 choice for people with physical disabilities.

At one point it was an all women’s teachers college named the Tennessee Normal School. Streaking was a regular tradition for decades.

And last, it’s home is Murfreesboro, one of the fastest growing cities in the state for decades, just 30 mins from downtown Nashville.
