4%er Ole Miss Alum here, but please don’t let that disqualify me. We are in our third generation on our Grove Tent. My son, who graduated a couple of years ago with his masters in accountancy grew up in The Grove and going to Ole Miss games, fostering his love of Ole Miss. My husband is not an Ole Miss alum, but loves it as much as me by now. We live in Memphis, so coming down and making a day of games to avoid traffic and enjoy friends is a HUGE part of the experience for all of us. Everyone in our tent Groves and goes into the game (every game even the crappy non conference ones). Our group uses a longtime smaller setup person. Our costs for our tent setup are going to MORE THAN DOUBLE in one year. If we had made the playoffs this past year, maybe people would feel differently, but well, we didn’t. We are still deciding what we will do as a group. Also, if all the local people like us bail and try to cherry pick games for cost, you are going to change the whole vibe of the Grove. As my son pointed out, it’s not the corporate tents that are going to ruin it, It’s going to be sad when there’s a big game or heaven forbid Gameday comes and large portions of the Grove are Tennessee fans or LSU fans or whoever we are playing, because the tent companies are going to be selling to the highest bidders after the loyal people who previously bought out the whole season have been priced out.
