I think we could be much better and not have a better record. That’s why I didn’t say “to be good.”

Mike always does his best with his back to the wall. So, there’s that. He hired an actual pitching coach, another positive.

Pitching has to be much better. I think there’s a chance for that. We need Elliot to be in end of 22 form. Maddox and Nichols need to take a step; again not unthinkable.

Overall I’m bullish on pitching improving.

Hitting wise we need Paino to be what we think he is. IMO we need another one of the freshmen to also play their way into the lineup.

Hill, Furnis, and Smithwick need to rake. The transfer’s past performances need to translate to the SEC.

Utermark needs to realize his potential. He’s going to have a high K rate, but he needs to be situationally effective. He’s an awesome kid, I hope he does well. For better or worse, I think his stats will tell the story of the offense. He doesn’t need to be all SEC, but he can’t be a non-factor.

Randall is a nice utility player, but if he’s our starting 2b then we’re probably in trouble at the bottom of the order. I like him but I’m not convinced his ceiling is high. His grit is something that needs to be contagious. My hats off to him for that.

Defense has to be good. Duh.

There are so many variables… I see a path to being good, but there’s way more ifs than sure things.

Shock the world Rebs… see you Friday night in Arlington.
