It seems very well documented now that anyone who has touched a floor (especially in a major league) can hit the portal and likely get paid. I have yet to hear a story of a player who came out worse off (in personal gain - not necessarily W and L) for entering the portal. Are there examples of players who didn’t find a new team and the old team filled their spot so they were left stranded? Or players who thought their value was high but they found out the hard way that they had a much lower ceiling?
I just find it hard to believe that there aren’t some negatives or risks to all this madness.
