@cbrister55 you keep up with all this stuff better than almost anyone. Has a 19 win SEC team ever not hosted a regional? I read somewhere last week that a 19 win SEC team has been a NS almost 60% of the time but I can't find it now.
So two questions:
1) Has a 19 win SEC ever not hosted?
2) Do you know of those 19 win SEC teams, how many were National Seeds?
I've said this before but RPI compared to Quad wins isn't one in the same, especially in Q4. In other words from an RPI standpoint, beating 101 at home isn't close to the same things as beating 250. That's a large part of Ole Miss problem....not the # of Q4 games, but the quality of Q4 games. Having 8 games outside RPI 200 is killing us right now. 294 x 3, 217, 277, 304, 241(L), and 253. You don't know before the season they are going to be THAT bad, but here we are.
Moving forward if Im Ole Miss I stop scheduling the SWAC schools and USM.
With the SWAC schools, you are killing your RPI no matter the outcome. I would rather us find mid level teams in the 150 range and play them midweek on the road on the way to a weekend series. I hate that for the SWAC schools because they need the money and baseballs they get out of it, but it's not our job to prop them up.
With USM, they need us FAR more than us or State need them. They need the Q1 games.....neither of OM or MSU do. You are literally help prop up their resume by playing them. The played a grand total of 11 Q1 games, and four were against Ole Miss and State. STOP PLAYING THEM. We don't need that game at all, and State doesn't either. Bury them and ignore them, then take their players you want through NIL. It's baffling to me we continue to schedule them to be honest.
