Doubleheaders in Jackson

Someone mentioned these games in a thread below. I worked at Fridays then and those doubleheaders were our Superbowl. This was late 70s and there weren’t that many bars/ restaurants in town so it was Balls to the wall from 11 in the morning when we opened to 12 at night when we closed. The bar was ten deep at all times and it was Aerobic all day. Most of us worked doubles and walked with enormous sums of cash. A lot of money for back in the day.
And on single games in Jackson you could actually tell who was playing by the crowd and what kind of food we most served. We ran out of steaks when Ole Miss played. Same with chili cheese hotdogs when State played. USM fans, it seemed just went back to Hattiesburg. We always had to have extra security when LSU came to town. The best fans though, at the time, were Missouri fans. They were burly, boisterous with large moustaches and would laugh when you told Missouri jokes. Of course, they were winning more back then
