Sorry for the non-sports post. I ran some rough numbers off a few Google searches so this may not be exact but I think if we raise the Medicare and Social Security start dates by 5 years, the US saves roughly $500 billion per year. Why we can’t give 55 year olds (and younger) a 10 year heads up that Medicare and Social Security Age will increase 5 years is crazy to me. We are spending ourselves into oblivion. Eventually, there will be so much debt to print that it will take higher interest rates for people, countries, etc. to want to buy it and that creates a death spiral of higher interest costs and impossible to stop deficits.
Politicians fight over controlling spending a few hundred million here or a few billion there. How about saving $500 billion per year (and growing 4%+ per year) with one bill. So infuriating!
