Now that the results are in for the running backs derby in the portal, it appears that we were simply out-bid for every single player we targeted and had on campus.
Hardy by Missouri, Haynes by Michigan, Russell by Arkansas, and even Bothwell by MSU.
We got Lacy, but Mizzou seemed to be fine with letting him go and replacing him with Hardy.
Draw your own conclusions. Either our financial advantage is gone, our “valuations” are not valid and our stubbornness about adhering to them misguided, or we just got out-recruited.
I can’t believe we voluntarily passed on all these because we think a Diggs who may or may not recover from his injury, a Lacy who seems not to have panned out at Missouri, and a true freshman will give us the running game we need next year and that we so sorely lacked this year, with major consequences.
I guess we will see.
