It's quite silly how good the SEC is. Been looking at FPI numbers this morning. If you don't know, a team's FPI is a ranking of how much that team would be expected to beat an average team on a neutral site. So a team with an FPI of 0 is average, while a team with an FPI of 10 would be expected to beat that average team on a neutral site by 10.

The second-best conference is the Big Ten, with an average FPI of 7.7. It has four playoff-worthy (i.e. top 12) teams, but eight of its 18 teams are outside the top 50.

The SEC has an average FPI of 13.8. Almost double that of the next best conference. Six playoff-worthy teams. But craziest of all, only one team (#69 (nice) MSU) outside the top 50. The Big Ten has two teams (Northwestern and Purdue) worse than State. And one of those teams, Purdue, is number one hundred and eleven.

Yowza.
