Almost seems like a halfway rational post by Steve. I like how he mentioned that he put the stuff about the Ohio State QB visiting in his Bones just in case something happened. Isn't that called throwing sh*t on the wall & seeing if something sticks?

You want my gut feeling on this QB thing? I'll give it to you. I don't think State is going to land a blue chip QB out of the portal. Gabriel committed to Oregon and canceled his future visits. I honestly felt like he was the most likely option due to his connections with Lebby. McCord backed out of his visit here. I suspect Cameron Ward is going to stay out west and that DJ will likely end up at Florida State.
Now that understood, I still think State can get another good QB out of the portal. I don't think they just folded up shop with the Shapen commitment. State needs competition at the position and I expect there to be some.
State has to get some wins in the portal as you all know. You may see Justin Ball and Ethan Miner commit sooner rather than later, but State needs a lot more and I mean a lot more. The good news is that transfer portal guys basically have a month or more to decide as they don't sign in December. It is going to be a process and we're going to have to see a lot of guys get offers to get this thing where it needs to be.
I am just going to encourage you to hang in there and let the coaches work. This isn't going to be some highly rated class due to making a coaching change and having to establish new relationships and change gears with guys they were recruiting to other schools.
I believe Jeff Lebby will get the QB room where it needs to be. If there is anything you should feel confident about should be Lebby's ability to get his guy and then get the most out of him. I say that in hopes of avoiding a meltdown on the board every time a high profile QB announces a transfer everywhere.
