I really like Tom Izzo. The praise that he placed on Ole Miss and Chris Beard was most gracious. I thought his players were well spoken and genuine in their respect for us. He should be on the Mount Rushmore of College Coaches.
The Tom Izzo model is one I believe that Chris Beard wants to follow. Year in and year out, Izzo will play anybody, anywhere, and anytime in his non-conference schedule. He knows he will take some early losses. He also knows that playing teams of the highest caliber will only make you that much better when you get into Conference play. Too many schools pad their won/loss with SWAC and CUSA. They later fall apart in "Prime Time".
His teams seem to always be resilient and determined. No, they don't have a roster full of potential NBA stars but they have a lot of really good players who are well coached and versatile.
Whether Auburn makes the Final Four or not will not change the perception of how dominant the SEC was this year so I feel no loyalty to the Plainsmen in that respect.
