Is Luke already walking back expectations?

He's now saying that just making a bowl game, so 6-6, would be "way ahead" of expectations. What the hell is he talking about? Vegas has our win total at 5. So 6 isn't "way head". Are his expectations really for 3 or 4 wins, therefore implying 6 being "way ahead"? If not, then he isn't referring to his expectations and he isn't referring to Vegas expectations, so exactly what expectations is he referring to? I would say almost every fan on this board has the expectation of 6 wins this year, so how would doing that make anything "way ahead"?

Or is this just him preparing his excuses ahead of time so he can fight for his job if he goes 4-8 by stating that's what the expectations were pre-season? (similar to how everyone walked back the recruiting class expectation a year ago as it became more and more obvious that he wasn't very good at recruiting).

Would anyone here consider 6 wins and making a bowl game to be "way ahead" of expectations?
