Wondering what more football scheme savy people think and maybe J. Wright can chime in. Do part of our OL woes have to do with the fact that the majority of our offensive plays are a run/pass option? What I mean is our OL basically ineffective because they are unable to downfield block due to the probability that they could be called for lineman downfield? Add that with just average running backs and I can see where there would be a big problem.
When we do have success running it is always plays that are runs all the way like sweeps, counters, power plays, etc.
I still believe we have an OL coaching/recruiting problem however. This is year 4 and we have not seen much improvement in that amount of time. It also doesn't explain why our OL gets blown up by 3-4 DL and the inability to handle simple twists. That is coaching and our ability or both.
