I can understand all of the preseason hype for Johnson. He was a great high school QB that many teams (Ole MIss included) desperately wanted to sign. He performed well last year against Arkansas in the first half opener at Jordan-Hair Stadium. I think that we all agree that Johnson is the better pure QB than Nick Marshall.
However, I was rewatching the Ole MIss vs. Auburn game last year, and Nick Marshal essentially defeated Ole Miss by himself. His passes were very good, he killed us running the football, but where he really did his damage was scrambling (a la Johnny Manziel) and making long passes when defenses broke down.
While Johnson may be the better QB, I am not so sure that his abilities are going to make Auburn a more formidable opponent than what they were with Nick Marshall.
