Ole Miss basketball has been ranked 31 of the 58 weeks of the last 2 regular seasons. That means over half of his time here, Chris Beard has had the Ole Miss rebels basketball team at a Top 25 level in the sport.
Since our very first Top 25 ranking under Beard, we’ve spent 2x as many weeks being ranked as we have being unranked.
Our KenPom is currently #22 …our highest in the KP era. Our NET is currently #26…our highest in the NET era. The SEC is currently projected to be an 11-14 bid league. That means this league, this season, is the best/deepest it’s ever been. Maybe the deepest ANY league has EVER been…. And we are currently projected by bracket matrix to be the top 6-seed. We’ve been a lock for the NCAA Tournament since early February in the best year of SEC basketball maybe ever.
I know basketball is new to some of yall. I know someone of yall couldn’t care less about basketball. But all the pearl clutching and bitching needs to stop. Chris Beard has done a tremendous job here over the last 2 seasons. This has been a RESOUNDING success of a season. Despite some personnel misses. Most of the money we are spending on hoops NIL isn’t taking away from baseball or football. It’s money he went and raised specifically for hoops, so stop bitching about that too.
For the love of god, just enjoy having a good basketball team.
