There is a reason you do not say congratulations or attaboy before a meeting even starts. Trump got taken to the cleaners. The document signed between Trump and Kim is remarkably similar to documents signed by US and NK in the 1990s. In the interim, NK developed a new generation of missiles and nukes. Un knew Trump wads desperate for a win and he took advantage of it. Here is what North Korea won from this meeting:

1. For the first time ever, the North Korea President was in front of the cameras as an equal to the US President.
2. He made fewer commitments than North Korea has made to past administrations and merely reaffirmed a goal of “denuclearization” that North Korea first announced in 1992.
3. Trump announced he would provide North Korea with security guarantees and suspend joint military exercises with the South Koreans. None of this was done with consultation with the Pentagon or South Korea.
4. No other US President would have said “Mr. Chairman,” Trump said as he addressed Kim from across a flower-lined wooden table, “it’s a great honor to be with you and I know that we will have tremendous success together.” He also0 mentioned the "special bond" the two shared.

What Trump won:
1. Kim “reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.” Reaffirming means more of the same so nothing was actually won.

In addition, all dictators know now the way to get what they want from the US is to build . nuclear weapons.

Surely, Republicans will be praising this meeting but how may of them would be doing the opposite if it had been Obama instead of Trump?
