Ole Miss baseball had been doing small-group skills work since returning in January, but team practices are here in preparation for the season opening weekend in Dallas February 14-16. The Rebels face Arizona (3 p.m.), Texas (7 p.m.) and Clemson (2:30) that weekend before returning home for three straight series prior to conference play. Ole Miss went 11-19 in the SEC a year ago and hasn't been .500 or better in the league since 2021. It's obviously a critical year to get back to the postseason in whatever capacity.

Here's my guess at the opening day lineup with the season weeks away. We'll get into some notable freshmen in the days and weeks ahead. Knowing Mike, he's going to play older players early, so that's where I'll mostly stick on predictions. This is a defensive lineup - not a batting order.
