Let's list recruiting misses that are costing us today.

One of the biggest issues facing our team today is the lack of depth. We have some top-tier players, but when we get injuries, we seem depleted every single year because we don't have a solid two-deep.

2012

Khalid Henderson - LB (Kentucky) ... probably most overlooked miss that year
Richie Brown - LB (MSU)
AJ Jefferson - DE (MSU)

Note: This is a class mostly recruited by the previous staff.

2013
Chris Jones - DT (MSU)
Peyton Barber - RB (Auburn)
Shaq Wiggins - CB (Georgia, now Louisvile)
Denver Kirkland - OL (Arky)
Dan Skipper - OL (Arky)
Carl Lawson - DE (Auburn)
Austin Golson - OG (granting his release) (OM, now Auburn)

2014
Avery Gennesy - OT (Texas A&M)
Kareem Are - OG (Florida State)
Ethan Frith - OG (Florida State) (no offer, instate)
Bo Scarborough - RB (Prep, then Alabama)
Nyles Morgan - LB (Notre Dame)

2015
Drew Richmond - OT (Tennessee)
Leo Lewis - LB (MSU)
Toby Weathersby - OT (LSU)
Matt Womack - OT (Bama)

Feel free to add more, but there's a lot there. Jury is still out in 2015 guys, although Weathersby is in the two deep as a true freshman at LSU and Womack is poised to be in the two deep next year.

It shouldn't be expected to land every single player in this group, BUT this is what this list should tell you:
1) We have an elephant hunter, but if he doesn't get the elephant we have to often settle for the squirrels that are left eating a roster spot for the next four years.
2) We do not evaluate properly at some positions, particularly offensive line. This is overwhelmingly evidenced by our botch of the last two offensive line classes.
3) We've evaluated well at linebacker, but we just can't land one.

No coincidence that our weakest positions show up with the most recruiting misses (OL, LB, RB).
