high school prospects, Ole Miss has only one commitment so far (Damarius! Yates), and only 3 others seem to even be considering us, Nolan Wilson, Xavier Mc Donald, and Jase Matthews. And we are not a clear favorite for any of those three and are a decided underdog for one of them, Nolan Wilson. The other 6 have either already committed elsewhere or are not even considering us.
So the very best case scenario would seem to be that we get only 4 of the top ten….and 2 or 3 is a lot more likely.
It is hard to see how Ole Miss will ever be an elite program if it performs that poorly in in-state recruiting. You can make up for it to some degree with strong out-of-state recruiting, but we are hardly tearing it up there either. We whiffed on all the elite QB prospects we targeted, for example.
Our overall class as we enter July ranks 66th in the country. That’s right —66th.
So call me a troll, bury your heads in the sand, and pretend it doesn’t matter….it’s a pretty ugly picture right now to anybody looking at things objectively
