He's a 6-foot-5, 220-pound junior RHP who went 7-1 with a 3.83 ERA last season. 86 strikeouts and 38 walks in 80 innings. 15 extra bas hits and opponents hit .204 off of him. D1Baseball.com ranked him the No. 21 starting pitcher nationally.
Here's the deal: He throws 94 MPH to 100 MPH with his fastball, and his slider will check in high 80s to 90 MPH. When he's throwing strikes, he's an absolute horse, but he can get wild and give opportunities. Yesterday was about up-down discipline. Today is about don't chase stuff out of the zone. Or up for that matter. See it down. He walked 5 in 2.1 innings against UVA and 6 in five innings against NC State. It can also flatten out at times. The strikeout numbers are good but not off the charts considering the velocity.
He's beatable unless he's you help him. In that case, it's a long day.
I expect Sammons and Graham to play today.
