What are some major historical moments — US or worldwide — that you remember from your childhood or as a young adult that you’ll remember exactly where you were and who with?
The two that stand out for me are Columbine and 9/11. The Pearl shooting to a lesser extent.
Columbine I remember watching the TV in the kitchen while my mom cut my hair or something along those lines.
9/11 I was in 10th grade English and our teacher (Mrs. Dillard) refused to let our class turn the TVs on and see what was happening. We had some test that day and she completely focused on that. We had block schedule so 4 classes a day and didn’t get out of that class until about 9:45 central, so none of us knew anything that had happened and probably half of the school had already been checked out.
The Pearl shooting I was in middle school at Byram and we got put on lockdown for several hours.
