I am glad for his health he is making this decision.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — NC State Wolfpack quarterback Grayson McCall is hanging up his cleats for good.

McCall announced his retirement in an Instagram post on Wednesday. He cited a head injury he suffered earlier this month as the reason for his decision.

“I have battled injuries my whole career, but this is one that I cannot come back from,” he wrote. “I have done everything I can to continue, but this is where the good Lord has called me to serve in a different space. Brain specialists, my family, and I have come to the conclusion that it is in my best interest to hang the cleats up.”

Struggling with concussions throughout his career, McCall only played seven games during his last season at Coastal Carolina due to a head injury. He suffered another head injury in his second game with NC State in September that forced him to miss rest of the month. In his first game back, he suffered the injury that would end his career.
