1. Marcel Reed has never been the face of this signing class. It has always been Sun Perkins.
2. Who hyped him up? Certainly wasn't around here or from the staff.
3. He was always a solid get because he has some talent and NIL wasn't a big deal, until it was.
4. Lane didn't match it because, just like Jacarius Clayton etc, Marcel Reed isn't worth it.
5. He's, at minimum, 2 seasons away from making an impact. This isn't the huge loss you're making it out to be.
6. This is absolutely not 2 years in a row that Lane has been empty handed in QB recruiting. Jaxson Dart is his name.
7. He won't be empty handed this year either. Folks were saying this last year and the QB room ended up being Dart/Altmyer/Dent.
8. Lastly, it's not spin to say we chose not to overpay for a 6'1 180 QB who's 2+ years away from playing/starting.
9. Some portal QBs are simply looking for a new home and system. All the QBs in the portal aren't immediate starters.
