Neal was spot on about the media narrative on the SEC

Lot of these guys forgot about the Non conference portion and are going eye test against teams like UF, UA, and Auburn.

Just like the other sports, the SEC has been good at basketball and added the two biggest schools of another major conference. The pendulum swinging this was was inevitable. Plus the ACC dropped off. The landscape has changed quickly and the media is playing by an outdated playbook.

I don’t know if there was a conspiracy, but as I noted before, the SEC historically under-performs in the tournament and I would not be surprised if that proves to be the case again this year.

After looking at the match-ups, I could easily see half the SEC teams in the field doing a one-and-out, unfortunately including Ole Miss.

The one and out narrative as you describe is a convenient argument for people with agendas who go with emotions and not with math. Half the SEC teams in the field have a NET of 28 or below or KenPom of 26 or below. So a standard deviation and tiering system would put them at or near other teams in the 6 - 11 seed lines and those losses are just part of a tournament. This is the problem when people try to make this about precision and not accuracy. This is an attempt embedded with human components to get the best 50 or so teams in the tournament after considering auto bids. If someone wants to beat the precise drum, then every team underperforms who doesn't beat their opponent seeded below them all the way from 1 on down. By your math, what is meeting expectations or "overperforming" on a more cumulative basis which is really the only "fair" way to look at this? 6 teams in the Sweet 16? 4 teams in Elite 8? 2 teams in Final Four? A national champion?

I don’t pull for SEC in football anymore….BUT man I’m gonna be pulling for all the SEC basketball teams

I agree. It’s quite possible 7-8 teams go down in the opening round and the media makes a big deal about it only to have to eat crow when we still have 4 in the Elite Eight.

They hate them some south. We a bunch of red necks that don’t wear shoes and shit in the yard. Just smile and wave.
I’m not sure it’s the South, so much as we are effing obnoxious with our “It Just Means More” and our “SEC!” Chants.

I also think there is an element that people are starting to realize that the name of the game is investment in winning, and no one is more invested. Therefore, they fear for all the schools that are NOT SEC and what happens if college sports just becomes the SEC vs the rest.

It’s always entertaining to see someone lower on the totem pole take a shot at the company that bankrolls everything. He’s not necessarily wrong, he’s just also a shill.

He’s 100% right. The league deserved 12 bids.
You’ve never been a fan of the Sagarin Ratings…have you?!? That’s really too bad.

Added: B4 disparaging him too bad, just know he has the 1959 Ole Miss football team as the #35 team of all-time.
