I've cheered for the Thunder since 2009 or so. I'm sorry that bothers you. I don't have a school. I went to three of them, have no ties to any. I have enjoyed cheering for the Thunder, however. Again, I'm sorry (not really) that bothers you.
No, I didn't. I have been critical of the current state of college sports. I'm far from alone. In fact, Lane Kiffin has called it a "broken system," and a "stupid system." I've not criticized the fans at all. I've said I can't relate. I've said I've been wowed by how strong the love for alma mater is to make fans overlook what I and others believe is a deteriorating product.
I don’t know how people can watch that Ole Miss game that was just played and then watch most NBA games and argue that the NBA is hard to watch and college basketball is a good product. The difference in product between college basketball and pro basketball is the biggest difference of any of the major 3 sports and it’s borderline unwatchable unless it’s a top 5 matchup or your laundry on the court.
A broken, stupid system doesn't mean its not still viable and still endearing. A lot of us still love it even as you subtly belittle it( and us) and sanctimoniously and self righteously follow your deteriorating product
That quote right there is part of the problem with college sports....... The NIL stuff is out of hand because there are fans actually willing to pay the athletes absurd amounts of money for them to play for their team.
In no other sport is the pull of fandom strong enough to encourage the fans to fund the players.

It's got some things that are better. There is more of a mid-range game involved in college. Every team isn't putting up 40 3's a game.
Obviously, the players aren't as skilled so all-in-all about the same level of watchability - to me - but prefer the college game. And yes, I would watch Kansas vs. Illinois before I would watch Golden St vs Houston.
