Tonight is a slow night in the Ole Miss sports world, so I thought I would share an important anniversary in my personal life with my fellow RebelGrovers. One year ago today, about the time of this posting I had a heart attack (actually at least my 2nd, possibly 3rd) just as my wife and I were returning from eating out in Tupelo after I had worked in the yard ("worked"is a stretch, I mostly rode the side-by-side) spraying my yard with pre-emergent herbicide.
The resulting trip to the ER at NMMC in Tupelo resulted in a quadruple bypass surgery to save my life and 8 days in the hospital, followed by a lengthy recovery. Needless to say, I am very fortunate to be sitting here in my office at home writing this and getting to experience things like my first grandchild being born in the last year.
I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for all the support that you all gave me then, even though I do not know most of you personally, and continue to give me as I continue on this journey seeking to find why God chose to spare me and allowed me to stay here on this Earth. If you haven't had your 3 heart health tests (lipid panel, calcium score, Echo cardiogram) done, I strongly encourage you to do so, especially if you are over 50 and/or have a history of heart disease in your family. God is good! All praise and glory to God!
