Has anyone ever heard of the Chamberlain-Hunt Academy in Port Gibson? It was a "regional boarding school" that opened in the 1800s and closed just a couple years ago. The buildings are still there in Port Gibson.
I went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole the other day. Alcorn State is on the site of a school called Oakland College (founded by the Presbyterian Church) that closed for the Civil War and never reopened. Later the Presbyterian Church opened Chamberlain-Hunt Academy in 1879.
