I know there are multiple golfers on this board. I’ve really enjoyed playing golf the past couple years. More than I ever have before. I’ve always just kind of played. No practice. I will go hit range balls occasionally, but I’m not practicing anything in particular other than trying to make solid contact.

I’m decided to really try to get better at golf this year. That being said, I’m looking for any simple and effective things anyone on this board has done that they believe has helped them improve the most.

I didn’t grow up playing golf, so I’m mainly self taught. I know nothing about drills or how to improve. Everything I’ve researched (and looking at my own rounds) says improve the short game.

Distances/club choice is definitely a flaw of mine. I know the distance of every shot I take, but I mainly go off the eye test.(I’m assuming that isn’t smart).

Advise portion:
I want to just go to the range and only shoot at targets from 150/125/100/75, and work on chips from the fringe. Absolutely nothing else for a while. Is this a good strategy, or is there any other simple things that have worked for you guys? Anything will help. TIA

These are my scores. I have been keeping up with them for the last 3 years roughly. I’m honestly just tired of being the exact same high 80’s, occasional mid/low 80’s if I’m really playing well golfer. I still love going and shooting the scores I do, I think I’m just finally ready to take it a little more seriously and really try to improve.

Also, would anyone recommend lessons, or should I just try improving on my own? I’m on the fence about this.
