One of those moments....................................................the world goes silent.
So, my boss and I were taking customers to the Cards / Sox game. We were waiting to meet up with all of them at an outside patio. The music was VERY loud. So, I look down at my phone to see if any of them had text/called - and I see where my wife had called 6, yes 6, times and also sent a text saying "call asap." (My wife _never_ calls when I'm with customers) I looked at my boss and said, "this isn't going to go over well......" So, I go down the street to find some peace and quiet, for downtown. I called and a friend answers my wife's phone and says - straight out of the gate - "Everything is fine. No one is hurt. ______ (our oldest daughter, 16) has been in a car wreck."
That is about when I almost stroked out. She's had her DL for about two freaking weeks.
My wife got on the phone, she's shook up. I try to calm her. Then, I speak to our daughter who is balling saying, "I know you're going to be so mad at me. I'm sorry." I explained to her that I was sending up prayers that she was OK and I didn't care about the car!!! She slid off the shoulder of the road, down an embankment, and hit a tree straight on. Then, icing on the cake.......the tree had a hornets nest, she and her friend got stung 3 times each!
After we got off the phone my boss holds out his hand and says, "give me the tickets and get out of here, I'll entertain the customers just fine w/out you." So, I did. Longest drive home I think I've ever had. All of my customers called/text wishing well wishes, some even sharing similar stories when their oldest (when they were about 16) had wrecks. And, talked about the stress!!!!!!!!
DEEP *sigh*
Got home, gave her a huge hug. Told her how much I loved her. Then, later, had to have the "tough" discussion about "being responsible for one's actions." Told her more to come on that in the coming weeks after I had cleared my mind.
So, now her car is in tow to Mr. Button's (yes, Evan's dad) auto body shop. I have to go up there, get the estimate, then make a decision to "claim, or not to claim." Again, *sigh* - I do have the coolest boss in America. He told me to worry about all of this, get it addressed, and not worry about anything else until then.
Sorry for the vent. I needed it!!!
Carry..........on.............
