So just got word from my wife. She took Baylor to mississippi sports medicine. He has been hurting in the lower back for about three weeks. Apparently some pretty good pain. But he toughed it out and played 3 of 4 games in a shicas tourney two weeks ago.
Was still hurting and pretty bad so we scheduled an apt. Got an X-ray. Doctor scheduled him for a bone scan next week. He is pretty sure he has a stress fracture in his lower back.
So he tells me that he can play this weekend's tournament. Says he can play through the pain that he isn't missing a game. Well me being me I'm proud of that. But stress fracture sounds like me a serious deal that just really needs complete rest. Playing can't do anything but make it worse.
So doctors tell me if he does have a stress fracture how long is the healing process and how do you heal it? Am I right in basically saving him from his competitive spirit?
