OT: Players, Coaches, and Taxes

I know is professional sports ants are paid two/three ways from their teams. 1) signing bonus, 2) incentive bonus, 3) regular wages. I also know that players who play away games have to pay, local and state taxes of played in that state - out of their regular wages structure.

Are pro players W2 employees or 1099? I assume there is a mixture considering some players are added & dropped frequently.

Do coaches have to pay the same tax that players do? Like when the Texans play at San Francisco does DeMeco Ryan’s have to pay that Cali tax like his players? If so do college coaches have to pay those taxes - while college athletes are exempt (so far) because it’s not a pay for play structure? If it applies to one coach I assume it applies to all?
