DYER HEADLINES VISITORS: Five-star running back Michael Dyer was in Oxford Saturday to watch Ole Miss’ SEC West showdown with Arkansas. Dyer, a Little Rock (Little Rock Christian), Ark., standout who is ranked as the No. 3 running back in the country and the No. 17 overall prospect, is widely believed to be leaning to Auburn.
Dyer, a 5-foot-8, 201-pounder, does, however, have close ties to the Ole Miss staff. He attended an Ole Miss practice in August and is expected to take an official visit to Oxford before he makes his decision.
Dyer’s teammate, tight end Dakota Mosely, was also in attendance. Mosley lists Tennessee, Auburn and Louisiana Tech as his favorites.
Springville, Ala., offensive lineman Chase Hughes, who committed to Ole Miss earlier this fall, was back in Oxford for the second consecutive week. Batesville, Miss., safety Darius “Tig” Barksdale, who signed with Ole Miss and began fall practice in August only to leave the team for undisclosed medical reasons, was back in Oxford on Saturday. Barksdale was also in town for the Rebels’ game against Alabama two weeks ago.
Jackson (Jackson Academy), Miss., long-snapper Will Denny, a possible walk-on candidate who could vie to compete for senior Preston Powers’ job next season, was also in attendance.
