OXFORD, Miss. – Off to their best start since 2020, No. 13 Ole Miss Baseball (14-1) heads across state lines Tuesday to take on South Alabama (9-6). First pitch is set for 4 p.m. in Mobile.

LEADING OFF
  • Ole Miss swept Jacksonville State last weekend outscoring the Gamecocks 32-10 in three games.
  • Ryan Moerman hit .529 with two home runs, 10 RBI, and seven runs scored over four games last week. He is now on a 10-game hitting streak and has eight multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games this season.
  • Moerman hit two home runs in Sunday’s finale, including a walk-off grand slam, the first grand slam from an Ole Miss player since Calvin Harris in 2023.
  • Mason Nichols, Will McCausland, and Landon Waters combined to two-hit Jacksonville State on Sunday, the first two-hitter since February of 2020.
  • The Rebels have won 13 games in a row, their longest winning streak since they won 16 in a row during the 2020 season.
  • They are off to their best start since that 2020 season when they opened the season 16-1 before the season was canceled.
  • Ole Miss was ranked in all five polls this week with the highest being No. 13 by D1Baseball. The Rebels were also slotted at No. 15 in both the Baseball America and USA Today coaches’ poll and No. 23 in the Perfect Game and NCBWA polls.
  • Ole Miss’ offense comes into the week ranked fifth in the NCAA in home runs per game, averaging 2.07 long balls per game. They are also ranked ninth in total home runs with 31.
  • The Rebels’ ERA of 3.08 is the 13th lowest in the country and they are also ranked ninth in strikeouts per nine innings at 12.1.
  • Ryan Moerman is now top 40 in the NCAA in doubles, doubles per game, total bases, slugging percentage, RBI, RBI per game, and home runs.
  • The Rebels open SEC play this weekend against the No. 3 Arkansas Razorbacks.

Ole Miss holds a 17-14 overall record over South Alabama. This will be the 32nd meeting between the foes with the last being on February 22nd, 2009 where South Alabama secured a 3-2 win over the Rebels in 10 innings. That Ole Miss team won the SEC regular season title, in a tie with LSU. Drew Pomeranz was suspended for the opening weekend in Mobile.
