Heard today that a lot of the guys Tennessee had on their radar in terms of guys they’ve been tampering with the last 6-7 months ended up just not getting into the portal.
A lot of these schools now have the money to retain the players they want with the rev share. A lot of these teams that couldn’t afford to pay these kids to stay last year, have now at least closed the gap enough to stay where they’re at. Last year if a kid was offered $400k and the original school could only offer $150k, yeah the kid is leaving. Now that school can offer $350k and kids are leaving the smaller amount of money on the table to stay.
So now the portal is kind of full of a bunch of blah, guys that their original school just doesn’t want. The desperate teams like LSU and Auburn are over paying for average players.
