But, in 2016 I vividly remember Anthony Rizzo catching the ball from Kris Bryant and immediately on his way to the mound putting the ball in his back pocket. I remember thinking how smart that was. Google AI says that later Rizzo "gifted" the ball to the Ricketts family. Ball valued at $3M.
So, I went and looked at the final pitch of the 2022 CWS. Dunhurst throws off his mask and glove dropping the ball on the ground.
Does anyone know what happened to the ball?
