elite SEC team are Tunsil, Conyers and Cooper. Patterson will get there. Others are just not that good. Every team is banged up so I am tired of hearing that. You must recruit 3-4 SEC caliber OL every year. 1 each year being ready to contribute would be great and redshirt the other 3. So each team has 2-3 5th year Seniors/ Seniors. Hopefully 1 OL goes pro after junior year! 3-4 Juniors, 3-4 Soph, 2-3 RS Fresh, and 3-4 Fresh. A combination of 15-18 OL with 8-10 being SEC ready each year. Blame who you want but this has not gotten done and this is 4th year. Our starting unit would be good if all 5 are out there, but there is no margin for error. The next man up is not even close.
And you can apply this to LB, DE, DB and RB. We beat Bama cause we had most of our good players on field and won turnovers 5-0. We got beat by Memphis cause Lynch is maybe best QB in Nation, they wanted it much more and we did make some horrible decisions.
The top SEC West teams have recruiting classes like our 2013 class EVERY year! We need top 15 classes every year with some top 10 mixed in. It's hard to "get up" every week AND endure the physicality of the season without quality depth. We just don't have it. And I love Coach Freeze but he is paid 4 Million to make sure it gets done.
