Channing Ward has made a qualifying score on his ACT. He'll now send it off to the Clearinghouse and barring anything crazy he'll be good to go come fall.
On Temario Strong: Now that Ward has made a qualifying test score, Temario Strong remains the one incoming signee in question as far as academic status. I have a source who told me Strong has a qualifying score on the ACT. Since then, Neal confirmed the same through an independent source. As long as the NCAA Clearinghouse doesn't raise issue, Strong appears to be in good shape with plenty of time before fall camp.
Mario Mathis, who I think is an absolute sleeper, will be at camp Friday and will work out. That's huge because he's still recovering from a knee injury, and he's almost 100 percent. It's good to get Mathis around the program some more and also have him around other recruits. Great kid.
Jordan Wilkins will choose between Auburn, Vanderbilt and Tennessee on Wednesday.
Jalen Hurd, who will be a top-ranked athlete in 2014, has Ole Miss in his very early top four with Vanderbilt, Alabama and Ohio State. He has 10 total offers including Michigan and Nebraska, among others. He ran a 4.37 40-yard dash during the Southern Elite Combine at Lafayette High School last weekend.
Shaun Rupert, a defensive back from Montgomery (Carver), Ala., is one I'm interested to see at camp this Friday. We don't have a ranking or video on him, but he's a smart kid with a decent offer list and good size. He impressed at a Vanderbilt camp earlier this summer and may be someone to watch before it's over. We'll get a close look this weekend.
Daronte Bouldin will make his commitment Thursday at 4 p.m. inside the Canton High School library. Ole Miss should be confident.
