He was invited to participate in a giant Independence Day celebration that was to be televised by ABC News. When Peter Jennings ( Anchorman for ABC News) heard his songs beforehand including “American Soldier”, Jennings uninvited him because his music was too nationalistic.
Jennings was Canadian.
