I will admit that I've been worried that this team would wilt a bit once they got in SEC play - that our lack of size and rebounding and the strength of the SEC would push a good team down to 6-12 or something like that and we would be on the outside looking in.
Even if some of that comes true - last night changed that.
I really think with our non-conference wins and the strength of the SEC, we may be good with 7-11. 8-10 will be golden, I feel confident.
This is what our current resume looks like:
22 in the NET, 4-2 in Quad 1 and 1-0 Quad 2 with zero Quad 3/4 losses and there would have to be something near impossible for us to have a chance at a bad loss.
Resume Lines
48 N BYU - this is right on the edge of Quad1 and 2 - we need to Cougs to do well down the stretch
39 @ Louisville - pretty much guaranteed to be Quad 1 by being on the road - they've been playing well lately
29 Georgia - the win against KY pushed this win into Quad 1 - that would be really cool if that held on
47 @ Arkansas - they have the look of a team that could fall apart - I hope this one holds on - they have a long way to drop to fall out of Quad 1
Losses
26 N Purdue
32 @ Memphis
Quad 2
95 N Colorado St - this was in Southaven so they may count it as a home game. I don't think this will matter at all because we will have enough opportunities at Quad 1 that I doubt they get to this line of our resume
Looking forward, 12 more opportunities at Quad 1 wins and only 4 Quad 2 games left - one is Saturday.
Nothing is a must win, but you need to take care of business in those 4 Quad 2 games just because it's a race to 8 and it could get tough out there.
The exciting thing is that even though we have some nice wins, I don't feel like we've had that night where we can't miss and could beat the 97 Bulls. I feel like every team has 2-3 of those each year. If we can have one of those against UT or Auburn and get a really nice resume line.
