I’m signing books downtown at Book Mart and Cafe until 1, but monitoring a few things. Lots of smoke already now that State’s regular season is over.
I’m still hearing Houston is going to come open and that Tulane HC Willie Fritz is going to be a top target. Fritz’s daughter is teaching in the Houston metro market after spending some time in sports broadcasting. I’m told that the family angle is part of the intrigue. I’m not suggesting he would pick Houston over State if the Bulldogs offer, but I do expect Houston to make a serious push for him.
Over the course of this week, I’ve heard that Troy HC Jon Sumrall is in and other times out. The latest is that he’s not expected to get the job. Still trying to confirm all of that, but that’s the recent chatter.
