There was a bit of flurry in 24 hours or so as Ole Miss picked up UCF linebacker transfer Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste, NC State defensive lineman Joshua Harris and Louisiana prep offensive lineman Ethan Fields. Reminder that Fields can sign as early as Wednesday. The Dec. 21 date is irrelevant to portal transfers.

Fields decommitted from Purdue and then promptly flipped to the Rebels publicly, all right after a visit to Oxford. He canceled his visit to Georgia Tech.

Jean-Baptiste gives the Rebels some size at that interior linebacker position, and UCF used him in several different ways, which is a nice touch for Ole Miss' 3-4. The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder played 553 snaps this season for the Golden Knights. He was in the box at his normal position for 400 of those, but 117 times he lined up on the defensive line outside the tackle as a rush end. He was also covering the slot 29 times and at free safety seven times, so not sure what was going on with those, but he has experience playing that pass-rush position as well as in the middle of the box.

He played 58 or more snaps in eight games.

A little bit of an odd stat is he only missed four tackles through the first nine weeks of the season, and then he missed four tackles in two of the last three games of the year.
