SEC Player of the Week – Missouri guard Caleb Grill, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound graduate from Wichita, Kan., averaged 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 2.5 assists in wins at No. 5 Florida and over Arkansas. He tallied a team-best 22 points in a win at No. 5 Florida, leading the Tigers to their first road win over a top five team since 2012. Grill connected on six 3-pointers in the win over the Gators, marking the third game with at least six triples this season – a first for a Tiger since 2017-18. Also led the Tigers with 17 points and four steals in a win over Arkansas.
SEC Freshman of the Week – Auburn guard Tahaad Pettiford, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound freshman from Jersey City, N.J., averaged 18.0 points, 3.0 steals, 2.5 assists and 2.0 rebounds in wins against No. 15 Mississippi State and at No. 23 Georgia. Pettiford scored a career-and game-high 24 points on 7-of-13 field goals, 5-of-7 from long range and 5-of-8 from the foul line to go with three rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win at Georgia as well as 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting with three assists and career-best four steals against Mississippi State. He has scored in double figures in 11 of his first 18 career games including seven of Auburn’s games against ranked opponents and all five SEC games. It marked his third 20-point game as he is shooting 12-of-25 from deep in SEC play. Pettiford had a career-high 15 points in the first half including 4-of-5 3-pointers against the Bulldogs.
